Why Seeking a Specialist For

Your Dental Care

Is So Important

What is the value in seeking expertise and experience for implant dentistry?

The unique aspect of specialty education is that it allows you to spend 10,000 hours becoming an expert in your chosen specialty. It not only develops your clinical expertise but also equips you with the ability to handle adverse outcomes and diagnose, and treat patients at a more sophisticated level. Specialty education still offers viable options, whether in academic or clinical settings, and consumers will continue to seek specialized care.

While we can teach anyone to perform a procedure, it is essential to understand that the diagnosis and management of the complications come through expertise and experience. Only then can we effectively apply the technology and techniques available to us. It is the combination of knowledge, skill and understanding that leads to successful outcomes in implant dentistry.

How has the consumer marketplace changed in your years of expertise?

Over the past 3 decades, there have been notable changes in the consumer marketplace, largely influenced by the widespread use of the internet and digital technology. Patients now have easy access to information through search engines, leading to second opinions, misinformation, and a lack of loyalty to healthcare providers. Additionally, patients today prefer comprehensive solutions provided in a single location and have a strong desire for immediate results. They often seek treatment from commercialized vendors with varying levels of expertise, creating opportunities but also the need for careful evaluation when comparing different providers. It is crucial for dental professionals to resist an economic-based philosophy and avoid compromising on quality and patient care.

What are the largest differences between the treatments you see today and those of years past?

One significant difference between today’s treatments and those from 3 decades ago is the increased prevalence of medically compromised individuals. Chronic diseases such as diabetes, heart disease, Lyme disease, and immune disorders like lupus often coexist with periodontal disease and advanced caries in these patients. Furthermore, contemporary patients face higher levels of environmental cellular toxicity, endocrine disruptors, and metabolic disturbances. Circulating inflammatory mediators and cortisol levels are also elevated, which can negatively impact efficient healing and long-term homeostasis. Deficiencies in vitamins, trace minerals, micronutrients, and hormones further complicate the healing process, even in otherwise healthy individuals.

In light of the rampant occurrence of peri-implantitis and various health conditions, it is becoming increasingly common to recommend fixed perio-prostheses as an alternative to edentulation and implant-supported restorations. Traditional periodontal prosthesis and crown-and-bridge solutions regain relevance as a bail-out strategy when anterior implants fail in the esthetic zone. These fixed restorations offer a broader scope of treatment that helps control many variables contributing to functional and esthetic implant failures.

Getting Healthy

Remaining Healthy

Is your Immune System

Ready for the Flu Season?

You might already know that your dental health condition can be a source of chronic inflammation. Left untreated-this low grade inflammation can act as a risk and be a modifying factor for chronic diseases. The oral cavity also remains a focus of infection for acute and chronic inflammation caused by bacteria, yeast, fungus and viral pathogens. This systemic inflammation will increase inflammatory markers in the bloodstream. Inflammation is the source of all chronic disease and a healthy human requires a certain homeostasis when it comes to inflammatory markers. Therefore, proper diagnosis, treatment, balancing and remediation is critical in becoming healthy and remaining healthy. The oral cavity remains deeply connected to each organ system and all cranial nerves. It remains one of the most overlooked aspects of health and wellness.

At the Lanap and Implant Center of Pennsylvania, we understand this and have focused our treatment philosophy with these concepts in mind. For this reason, we recommend our patients consider our comprehensive USA Biohealth nutritional augmentation two weeks prior and two week post treatment in establishing health and wellness. Ideally, we recommend these changes as a permanent part of your lifestyle.

Dr. DiGiallorenzo and his team understand and integrate the fundamentals of integrative medicine/dentistry in their patient care and focus each patient’s care on immune support, risk factor reduction and detoxification of both local and environmental risks. As mentioned the oral cavity remains deeply connected to each organ system and all cranial nerves. At the heart of our mission, we believe saving your teeth is always the best option to keep your neural, meridian and biological systems and pathways intact.

However, there are often times when replacement becomes the only option as the teeth have become toxic. In addition, thru risk / benefit analysis replacement is often a better solution long term. As a result of Dr. DiGiallorenzo’s specialty training in Periodontics and Implantology in the early 1990 at University of Pennsylvania and over two decades of periodontics and dental implant expertise, complex therapy can be delivered with astounding predictability and biologic long term success in a single transition to remediate disease under IV sedation or oral sedation.

Dr. DiGiallorenzo and Dr. Hsu have been involved with metal free Implantology for over a decade at their Pennsylvania clinic. They integrate stem cell therapies, lasers, acupuncture, nutritional protocols, reflexology, homeopathy and aromatherapy to advance our outcomes. Both doctors work with your integrative medical doctors thru your personalized detoxification protocol to ensure a complete understanding of the necessary diagnosis and develop a plan to maximize your oral health. It is only when medicine and dentistry work hand in hand that patients have a real chance to experience profound healing.

We are currently utilizing metal free implants developed by The Swiss Biohealth Institute. We have refined our non-surgical integrative LANAP (Laser Assisted New Attachment Procedure) protocol for over a decade to create single visit options for reduction of infections and detoxify the body along with neuromuscular and occlusal balancing. We perform all the necessary remediation in one appointment usually under anesthesia with our team anesthesiologist Dr. Anthony Demarco. In light of the skyrocketing increase in chronic diseases this approach is a balanced method for risk factor reduction.

The immune system is often, significantly improved simply by removing metals and treating the sources of inflammation in the mouth and jaw areas. Patients are given a better chance of recovery by relieving and strengthening the immune system and by eliminating risk factors.

USA Biohealth applies comprehensive, interactive treatment that considers all biological, medical and dental aspects as a means to bring about profound healing. The concept mobilizes and reactivates the natural immune system and bolsters the body’s self-healing abilities. This lays the foundation to eliminate oral health as a risk factor for chronic diseases and provide a lasting improvement to quality of life.
